Embracing Single Life

Being a single professional is a state of life one should cherish. Indeed, This statement was affirmed with the single series hosted by ALNP last May 20 & 27 and June 3, 2017. The series was divided into three episodes (one for each Saturday) representing the three different aspects, a single professional encounters. And here’s how we, single professionals, should embrace this valuable part of our lives.
SINGLE AND WORKING. A single professional ought to work, engage in business, or do both, whatever he’s called for in the economic world. Aside from the fact that it is important to find a job or business, it is highlighted in this episode to find ourselves in the particular job we’re in.

What do you love doing? What are you good at? What’s the thing that you can be paid for? What does the world need? These are the questions raised by our speaker, Glenn Manguilimotan, that bothered our minds.

Normally, one has different answers for every question. But the best thing here is to have that one answer for all those questions. To be doing what you love, what you’re good at, what the world needs, and being paid for it is a big combo! It’s like practicing your profession, being in a vocation, doing a mission, and showing your passion all at the same time.

Of the many opportunities available in the market, it is important to find the work that suits us. By then, we should give it our best shot the way God gives us what’s best for us. This way, a single professional can live his purpose in this challenging big world have a deeper sense of fulfillment in life. “Excellence is pursuing and doing the best we can with the gifts and abilities God gives us.”

SINGLE AND HEALTHY. What profit will it make for a single professional to have lots of money but doesn’t have a healthy self? How could one be truly of service to God and his people when he’s unwell? These questions can already sum up the talk of Ms. Hershe Lesgapina, former Branch Women’s Moderator of Lingkod-Cebu.

On a more technical note, we reminded ourselves of the healthy tips that are so basic but have been neglected, such as having enough sleep, eating on time, drinking at least 8 glasses of water, and to always eat fruits and vegetables. In addition, we were given awareness of the calorie level for the usual food we intake, e.g. rice, burger, spaghetti, fries, etc. An average of 800 calories a day is already enough and in excess of that may pose a health risk. Further, a scanning device a health risk. Further, a scanning device was brought during the session to measure one’s body fat, weight, and body age in order to be aware of one’s body status.

Definitely, being genuinely healthy is something we, single professionals, should achieve; not for vanity purposes but for the people we love and care for. With good health comes the probability of living a longer life. And if we’ve found our purpose, this longer life is meant to transform lives of the people we encounter; thereby, glorifying the Lord even more.

SINGLE AND WEALTHY. Managing finances is a common problem every single professional encounters. Nevertheless, resolving this matter is something learnable. 10-20- 70: a simple equation introduced to us by Michelle Uy. 10% for the Lord,20% for savings/investment and 70% for one’s self. With the income every single professional earns, this simple equation can be a big help.

Allocating one’s money is acknowledging that these three portions are significant in our lives. Of course, it is important to allocate an amount to the Lord because it is our way of thanking Him for the countless blessings He gave us. Further, it is important to save/invest for future need or emergency purposes. Lastly, we have to give contentment to our own needs and the needs of the people we love.

In this episode, we were provided with just the basic point of managing finances. There may be other ways that one can utilize. The point being is to be truly wealthy is to be generous, not only to the people we know, but most especially to the people who are in dire need.
“Excellence is pursuing and doing the best we can with the gifts and abilities God gives us.”
