The Sound of the Rain

Have you heard the sound of the rain? I mean, really listen to it?

Lingkod Cebu's IPT Team poses for a photo in the altar of St. Rita Chapel, Tabor Hills, Talamban.
I am one of those people who love the rain. I remembered when I was a child, I usually badger my parents to let me out every time it rains. The splash I make when I jump, the rain on my face and the laughter shared with my friends and siblings, are experiences worth loving.

Why talk about rain? Well, it is because, during the merry rainy day of January 28, 2018, the Worship Ministry (Intercessory Prayer Team and Music Ministry) had the opportunity to have their Day of Prayer in Tabor Hill, Talamban.

What is “Day of Prayer?” DOP is a transformational experience that would tighten your relationship with God. You choose a day where you offer your time in contemplative prayer, listening, praising and meditation. It is a time where you free your mind with everything but GOD.

The music of the rain as it hit the roof is like an accompaniment to every pluck of the guitar as the members of IPT and Music Ministry worshipped, glorified and honor our Lord with their jubilant songs and vocal prayers.

The sound of the rain as it hit the soil is a balm to their senses as they partook to solemn meditation, trying to listen to the Lord and pondering on what struck them most from the Gospel.

The unstoppable force of the rain corresponds to "you have no choice but share your reflection” in the plenary meeting after the given time of meditation. During the sharing period, we learned new lessons and laughed as the sharers reveal some of their secrets and insights.

Thanks to the long intricate planning of the members, the DOP was a big success. All concerns and what-ifs were given consideration to making the DOP fruitful; like a rain that seeps through every nick and nook on the ground, not leaving any space untouched. Though as humans as we are, we need to keep on improving.

DOP ended with a mass and members left the place with light hearts, refreshed souls and motivated lives in Lingkod. Just like the smell and sight after the rain, we sensed a new beginning. A new life.

What about you? What do you like about rain?

P.S. Another reason why I like rain is because it sounds like Criscel LorRAINe.
